Cloudy Days Cafe

Cloudy Days Cafe was my senior capstone project for my BFA degree at Cornish.

Over the course of my final semester, I designed the concept and branding for a cafe. I then exhibited a physical mock-up of the space in the senior gallery exhibition with my classmates.

Cloudy Days Cafe was designed as a space for people, who experience anxiety, to rest and destress. Using the idea of art and drawing as a form of therapy, I designed a booklet encouraging people to ignore the results of their drawing and instead draw as a method of calming the mind. At the table, I had notepads with the branding for the cafe and options for different pens to provide people with the supplies to get started.

Cloudy Days was used as a metaphor for when someone is feeling anxious. The cafe aimed to move the clouds away and bring in some sun in the form of relaxation. All design decisions for the cafe’s branding were made with the overall goal of relieving anxiety.
